Feburary race at Fontana ? ? ?
Over this past week end I worked as the starter at Speedworld here in phoenix for the West Coast Hot Rod associaton. At the close of the event the 2 main guys approached me about joining them in hosting an event at Fontana next Feb. It would be called the West Coast VW and Street Car Shoot out. VW ONly classes would be Pro Mod, Unlimited Street, and Super Street. D/Gas is run on a 10.60 index and E/Gas would be run on an 11.90 index. All of these classes would run on a .4ths pro tree. for the guys that normally run in Pro Eliminator they have a class called open comp. (.5ths pro tree) For more about the WCHRA you can go to their web page at http://www.westcoasthotrod.com/wchra_home.html The only class that is not listed is E/Gas because it will be a new class for 2008. How many PRA racers would show up for some healthy pay outs as well as the chance to have a 2 day event along side of the west coast's BADDEST street cars ??

Jerry, are the WCHRA gonna make E/Gas part of it's regular program for all their races? Too bad this race is Fontana.

MufflerMike- 09-25-2007

Id probably do the 10.60 class. the only problem i have is being ready. typically go through all my stuff at the end/beginning of the year and it always seems to work out that i get it all back together the night before drag day in march. so i would be questionable. are we talking late febuary?

Jerry Spearn- 09-25-2007

yes Mike L E gas is going to be a new class for the 2008 season. Yes MM late feb depending on Fontanna's NASCAR/IMSA schedule

Marty Staggs- 09-25-2007

All door car classes?

Lance Gregory- 09-26-2007

That would work. Don't know about the other guys on the team but I like the Fontana track and it is only 10 minutes form the house.

Mike Lawless- 10-10-2007

Jerry, I'm going to try to have all the off-season work done in time to come to this race. Thanks for your efforts.

Feb race
Feb race sounds good as I think Phoenix VW race might be March-but have not seen the schedule. Why is E-gas 11.90? Why not be consistant and more NHRA-like and make it 11.60. Most of the racers currently in the PRA 11.90 class sandbag anyway.

John Varela- 10-22-2007

I'm all in on this one...it would take me about 4 weeks to freshen things up after the 2007 season and my last race should be the PSCA World Finals in November. I think with a little bigger N2O jets I might be able to get in that 10.60 index.

John Meade- 10-24-2007

The SRM race team is there too with 3 cars.

Jerry Spearn- 10-24-2007

it looks like the V-8 guys have found a way to hold the event with out us :( they are still adding the e/gas class and it will be an 11.60 index

Re: Feb race
Most of the racers currently in the PRA 11.90 class sandbag anyway. Richard "I'm Shocked", I can assure you that none of the 11.90 S/G racers have ever "sand bagged". Signed "11.01" LOL

Richard Laitinen- 11-04-2007

Oh yea Mr. Palmer(s), I saw the results of how fast you can book on down the track in winning that Wally, which by the way, may have been the last time to get one of those beauties in Sport Compact now that NHRA is letting NOPI run the deal. Congrats on your win.
