Gila River Fire Department Safey Rules
WELCOME TO GILA RIVER The Gila River Fire Department would like to welcome you to the Gila River Indian Community and Firebird International Raceway. We are pleased to have you here and would like to help make your experience a safe one. Our firefighters and inspectors will be at the event and making spot inspections of the pits. We have most recently conducted these inspections at all events operated by NHRA, NHDRA and Firebird. The racing teams found these visits to be educational and informative. We have extended this to other events here at the race track for the safety of our visitors, participants, spectators and community. Please take a few minute to look over the information contained in this flyer. If you are ready for your inspection, please tape this to the rear or roadside of your rig/pit and we will stop by. All units will be inspected in accordance to National Fire and Life Safety Codes. Those completing an inspection will be given a GREEN tag to be place in plain view on or at your pit. Each pit shall have a minimum of two (2) 5 lb. fire extinguishers. Small operations may operate with (1) 5 lb. or equivalent. ABC multiplex or equivalent extinguishers It is preferred that an extinguisher suitable for the types of fuels and products in the pits be selected. · Fuel and Fuel products shall be in approved containers · No more than 55 gallons of fuel in any one pit. · Approved dispensing methods shall be followed. · Contain all solvents in approved containers · Electrical cords shall be rated for outdoor use. · Barbeques shall be limited to areas that are conducive to their use. 10 feet from any combustibles and awnings. Please use common sense when cooking with coals or gas. · Motor scooters, carts and motor bikes should be operated by responsible persons, there are many guests and spectators and a great deal of noise. Please use caution when driving these in congested areas and around the staging and return lanes.

So what are we suppose to tape to our trailers for the inspection? I went yesterday and bought two 5lb ABC extinguishers at Home Depot $38 each. So I guess we are ready.

Eric Takushi- 03-28-2007

Lance just have the extinguishers. the fire marshall will come by and give you a green tag for your pit (PASS) Nothing needed to be taped to the trailer.
